Deadpool/Morbius

Kitty has created a new costume in order to fight crime with Peter without revealing his secret identidy. After some crime-fighting, both return home, with Peter finding Aunt May is going on a date and Kitty is incapacitated by X-Men dopplegangers. An empty Blackbird shows up at Peter's location and decides to step inside, where he is taken to the X-Mansion and taken out by the fake X-Men. Spidey and the X-Men are dropped on the island of Krakoa, where they're hunted by Deadpool on a live-TV show. The X-Men and Spider-Man defeat Deadpool, rescue Professor X, and leave the island. At home, Peter decides it's time to tell Aunt May the truth, only to find out she's staying the night with her date.

Months ago, Spider-Man attempted to stop a vampire, only to be saved by vampire hunter Blade. In the present, Kitty tries to convince Peter to go public with his identidy but he refuses, straining their relationship. At the Daily Bugle, Ben Urich tries to convince Jameson to publish a story about vampires but fails. Urich is then kidnapped by a vampire. Using Urich's report, Spider-Man tracks down Urich, finding his kidnapper and another vampire, Morbius. Spidey takes Urich to the hospital, but Morbius follows, seemingly trying to kill him. The othr vampire shows up but Morbius kills her, revealing his good intentions. He's able to cure Urich of his vampirism and leaves. Peter tells this to MJ who notes that he's seeing things he shouldn't have.

Did You Know?

  • Ultimate Deadpool doesn’t resemble his mainstream counterpart much aside from his costume. In Ultimate, he is a mutant-hunting cyborg on a reality TV show, with no mutant powers and no skin on his face, instead having a plastic helmet that shows his exposed face. His personality is more aligned with Donald Pierce, who is also a mutant-hating cyborg in charge of the Reavers.
  • While Ultimate Deadpool survives, he is never seen again in the comics, however he shows up in Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions. In the game, it’s implied his near-death experience rewrote his personality to be identical to his mainline counterpart, however he still keeps the reality TV show shtick.
  • Two prominent X-Men locations, Genosha and Krakoa appear in this arc as locations for the Reaver’s hunt. In the main Marvel comics, both served as nation-states for mutants, with Krakoa itself also being a living mutant island.
  • The female vampire is named and designed after Marvel editor Jennifer Grünwald, who mostly focues on editing guidebooks to the Marvel universe
  • Unlike his Earth-616 version, this Morbius is an actual vampire rather than a mutate. He is also the son of Dracula and his bites possess the ability to cure vampirism instead of infecting. He never appears again after this arc.
  • Due to his mutated blood, Spider-Man is seemingly immune to vampirism.
