Issues 106-111

Ultimate Knights

Kitty Pryde, kicked out of the X-Men, has registered at Midtown, making things rough for her, Peter, and MJ. At school, Peter is approached by lawyer Matt Murdock, who reveals himself to be Daredevil and invites Peter to a meeting about how to kill the Kingpin. Spider-Man, along with Moon Knight, Iron Fist, Shang-Chi, and Dr. Strange show up, with Spidey able to convince the group not to kill Fisk. They decide the best way to take him down is to pose as an assassin and infiltrate Kingpin's organization, deciding Moon Knight to be the best canidate. Creating the Ronin persona, he attacks Midtown High and sucessfully captures Spider-Man.

While captured, Kingpin reveals to Peter that he owns the licensing rights to Spider-Man, making him more valuable alive than dead. He also reveals he knew of the groups plan, beating Moon Knight and claiming Daredevil is a double agent. Letting Peter go, Spider-Man attacks Daredevil at another meeting, but Daredevil's senses reveal that Iron Fist is the traitor. Daredevil's law office is also destroyed during this. Meanwhile, Moon Knight is seemingly executed by Fisk's men, but he survives. With nothing left to lose, Daredevil threatens to kill Fisk's comatose wife, but Spider-Man intervenes and convinces him to stand down, both agreeing that Fisk and his wife must leave the country. While planning a retaliation against the heroes, Fisk is arrested by the cops, as Moon Knight has turned himself in and told the police about Fisk's crimes and his involvement as the Ronin.

Peter sits down and has a talk with Aunt May, telling her of an incident with the super-villain Spot. They discuss Peter's life as Spider-Man, with May ultimately accepting and encouraging Peter to keep going.

Did You Know?

  • This is the last arc Mark Bagley would illustrate for the series, with issue 111 being a hand off of the position to Stuart Immonen, who will illustrate for the rest of the series. Bagely would however return to the book for a couple special issues.
  • Moon Knight, compared to his 616 counterpart, has four personalities instead of three, being Marc Spector, Steven Grant, Moon Knight, and the Inner child. Instead of Marc being the “main” personality, it seems that Steven serves that role. He also invents the persona of the Ronin, an identity that was originally created by the Avenger Hawkeye and inherited by Echo in Earth 616. Moon Knight turns himself in at the end of the arc, and is never seen in the Ultimate universe again.
  • The Ultimate version of Iron Fist apparently has a daughter, however she is never shown, and Iron Fist himself doesn't appear in any comics after this arc.
